One giant leap forward for the Sparks Museum …
This week, the Sparks Heritage Museum took a giant leap forward as they became possibly the first Museum in Nevada to incorporate I-pad technology into their exhibits. Thanks to a grant from the Ben Snow Foundation, the Museum has been working to create a more interactive experience which will appeal to young and old. The first exhibit the I-pads will appear in is the new Sparks in Space exhibit which opens in their Changing Gallery this weekend, March 19 and 20.
It is a little know fact that the rockets that got the first man on and off the moon were developed and tested right here in Spanish Springs, at the Nevada Field Laboratory, a facility operated by Rocket dyne. In partnership with the Challenger Learning Center of Northern Nevada, the Sparks in Space exhibit presents an in-depth look at the US space program with an emphasis on manned space flight and the role Sparks has played. The three major topics include: “From Railroads to Rockets,” “Animals in Space,” and “The Next Generation.”

..."Ipad-kiosks.com cofounder Julia Fullerton says that the ipad kiosk is going to run about $1,100 vs $3,100 for the traditional kiosk, and weighs a fraction as much. "PRICES ARE NOW $585!
"Many retailers have already created apps on the App Store: Walgreen, Target, etc.," Blaine Warkentine, MD, founder of iPad-Kiosks added. "The investment was made for customers’ devices, but the need for that customer to have the app and the device is no longer required with iPad-kiosks."
The ipad-kiosks.com enclosures can be purchased with volume discounts for quantity orders of five or more, and the enclosures, pedestal and mounts vary from $525 to $1,254, not including the iPad, Fullerton says."...
